For this site, I tried to give an idea of what a pencil can be used for, rather that simply having straight text thrown down with a few pictures of pencils. I wanted to show a page with some rough hand drawn areas at least. Overall, each idea has the same concept, but a different feel.

| This page is one where I wanted the information written out on a sticky pad. And I wanted to have the pencil take on some functionality, rather than simply being on the page. That is why I wanted to have them stand in for the buttons. The rollover on them was going to turn an unused pencil into a sharpened pencil. | This was my more playful idea. Here the pencil would have a little less function, and stand in more as an icon. I really just wanted areas on the page to be drawn by the pencil, even if they served no true purpose, other than aesthetically. | With this page, I wanted to do extreme zooms of what is familiar to people, but give it a Georgia O'Keefe twist. What you see wouldn't be instantly recognized until the contents of the page were read. |
I chose this design because it was the most playful. When I think of pencils, I do think of school, but what would seem to be a more playful side of it. Where pens seem more aimed at seriousness, pencils mean elementar school and doodling. I wanted to give that idea to my page, so this one did it best.

The only real changes I made to this page were to take away the dark areas. The dark blocks seemed to take away from the playfulness this page had. And doing so opened this whole area up and gave it a light feeling.
