Topic #3 - Favorite TV Show

What was your concept for this site?

With this site, I wanted to get the idea of the show across, which is roughing it in the wild. So, obviously, I didn't want the page to have nice clean lines or a clean feeling at all. The host of the show hardly ever maakes it to the end of the show without being completely covered in dirt in most cases. I also wanted to make sure that a great deal of organic shapes and colors were also used in this design.

This concept was all about making sure I had areas in which to put information what needed to be in the page. Once I was finished with it, I new almost immediately that it was not the one I wanted to work on. The lines were to clean and it had a very geometric feel.	This design still contains a very geometric quality, but I wanted to keep the areas from feeling like a checker board. I was really trying to make it where, at first glance, no true structure wa obvious, but information could still be found easily.	This design had a little more hierarchy to it, and it would still be possible to lay it out in html, but I gave myself an area for some flash if I felt like adding it.

Which design did you choose and why?

I ended up choosing the thrid design because it was closer to what I had wanted in the beginning in terms of being a little more unstructured in appearance, yet still following a grid. I also really liked the idea of an area where flash could be used to give an overall sense of the different areas Bear Grylls goes to. Limiting the theme of the page to jungle or desert just wouldn't show what the show is all about.

What changes did you make to your revision and why?

The changes that I made for this were to really add some torn texture to the page to reflect the design of the logo. I also gave more of a sense of diagonals to make the page seem less vertically and horizontally oriented.
